FAQs

  • A: College In My Future (CIMF) is designed to encourage hope, build savings, assist with career training or college expenses, and increase financial education. The program is managed by the Excite Foundation. Each first grader enrolled in Franklin-McKinley school district during 2021 is automatically enrolled with an account. The account was opened with a $50 deposit from Excite Foundation and will earn a 5% annual savings bonus for at least the first two years on balances of up to $2,500. Parents or legal guardians are provided the opportunity to opt-out of the program.

  • No. Because the Excite Foundation is the owner of the account and it is held for the benefit of the child, a student’s name, address, date of birth and school ID number are all that is needed. This information is provided to the Excite Foundation and the financial partner by the school district.

  • This is a deposit-only savings account, which means the funds remain in the account until Excite Foundation approves a withdrawal for future education and training expenses. The Excite Foundation holds the accounts at Excite Credit Union for the benefit of the student.

  • Student name, address, date of birth and student ID number will be shared with the Excite Foundation and the program’s financial partner (Excite Credit Union). In addition, parent/guardian contact information is shared, including name, phone number, address and email. Additional information may also be shared in order to receive a student reward, with parent/guardian permission. Shared data will never include things like individual grades or test scores. No information will be shared outside of program partners.

  • Accounts are started automatically for all first grade students. Parents/guardians were provided the opportunity to opt-out prior to establishing the accounts. If parents would like to opt-out in the future, contact CSA@excitefoundation.org
